Clean Team
A Clean Downtown, Every Step of the Way
The beautification of Downtown Long Beach is one of the main goals for the Clean Team members. The team begins work early each morning to ensure the central business district remains attractive and clean. Members also serve as goodwill ambassadors as they assist anyone unfamiliar with the Downtown by giving directions and answering questions.
Uniformed with bright red shirts and black pants, the radio equipped personnel sweep litter, debris, and refuse from sidewalks and gutters. Automated sweepers and high pressure wash systems ensure that all Downtown sidewalks are kept clean daily. Sidewalk trash cans are emptied regularly, while paper signs and handbills are removed from public property. The Clean Team members work to ensure that public landscape areas, tree wells and planters are well-maintained and free of litter and weeds.
The PBID maintains a zero tolerance graffiti policy and all graffiti is removed from walls, buildings, and light poles within a 24-hour period.
